Civilization! (Sea to Sky Highway/Vancouver, BC)

We were very excited and surprised to be able to view the bay from the highway once we headed out the next morning!

The campground we planned on staying at was located in the city of West Vancouver, which is where we experienced our first traffic jam in months, haha! The roads were a bit confusing and we were very happy to have *ahem* upgraded our GPS maps. We finally found our way to Capilano River RV Park & Campground, and we immediately felt like sardines after being out in the wilderness with lots of space just the night previous! One of the reasons we picked this Park is because it had a working hot tub, which we thoroughly enjoyed. (The entire trip we had been trying to find a place that had a hot tub, and they all were broke, haha!)

The first thing we noticed once we parked in out site was the traffic that was backed up on the ramp to Lions Gate Bridge. We had noticed many people out running, walking, and biking nearly everywhere, and did not see one obese person anywhere.

We needed to find an RV Parts Store to get a new water pump controller, since Monaco decided to place it below the fresh water tank vent...this is actually the second time we had to replace it, so we finally got wise enough to extend the wires and move it somewhere it would not get wet. To get to the RV Store, we had to go over a Toll Bridge, but we exited before to get some gas and asked the attendant while we were there how much it costs. He stated, "Seeing as you are from Texas, you have less than 1% chance of them mailing you the bill." That settled it for us!

The parts store was located at an RV Dealer, so we snooped around and found Sean and Molly a new home, lol! Just kidding! Sean is fascinated by these A-Liner trailers.

It is the perfect city to get outside and enjoy the crystal clear days we were currently experiencing, so we decided the next morning to head over to Chinatown the next day to check out the area and eat some yummy Chinese food.  Sean and I both love charm of Chinatown.

We visited the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, and then planned on grabbing a bite to eat. Something really neat they do at the Garden is feed the Koi fish at 11:45am every day, and very interesting how they notify the fish it is time to eat as you can see in the video. Sean tried his best hand at drawing some Chinese characters, which he did very well!

Unfortunately, our bite to eat was regrettable...it was not so good. I think it was a bit more authentic than Sean and I are used to, haha!

Granville Island was our next stop for the day, which is a somewhat magical place! It is located under a bridge and has a large farmer's market with lots of restaurants, locally crafted items, and large selection of locally grown veggies and fruits. Of course, Sean and I ended up at a bakery where we both got a slice of cheesecake and sat out near the ferry taxi area to watch the commotion and listen to a street performer serenade us in French.

We decided to go back to the motorhome, since we were both feeling a bit queasy from lunch, haha! Once our tummies were rested we headed out to walk the Lion's Gate Bridge to get some snapshots of the the city and surrounding areas.

After a great night of sleep, we hit the next morning with with plans to look at downtown Vancouver and Shannon Falls up the highway near Squamish. Sean was trying to find exotic cars in downtown Vancouver, but had no luck, so we decided to meander the streets to see what shops were here. Of course, there were the usual Coach, Gucci, and other fancy stores, but there weren't as many super fancy stores as we would have thought. We walked down to the water, which was not far away, and browsed through the marina. We were amazed at how clear the water was, not much different than Catalina Island.

Shannon Falls plummets over 1000 feet of the cliffside near Squamish, BC. This is close to a well known rock climbing area as well, with smooth rock faces exposed to the motorists of the Sea to Sky Highway, where you could watch people climb as you drive.

We went home and lazed around for a while before walking over to the Park Royal Mall just down the road from the RV Park. On the walk over, we noticed the sunset was beautiful! There was a Marketplace in this mall as well, and we wondered why we haven't found these in the U.S. We had $4 Canadian money that we needed to spend, so Sean bought a large sack of Maynard's Blush Berry gummies, and I got a DQ dipped kiddie cone, haha!
