Drumheller, AB/Middle of nowhere Saskatchewan

September 3-4: We decided to make our way from Banff National Park to Drumheller, AB to go to a world renowned dinosaur museum, since we had been unsuccessful in visiting a few different dinosaur museums either to it being closed on the day we could go or for the season...

We woke up to poor visibility and very smokey conditions from wildfires in US.

You know we couldn't pass up an opportunity to visit Costco while passing through Calgary. It took a while to find a Costco we could fit the motorhome in the parking lot. Turns out there was no way to fit the motorhome even near a Costco, so we ended up pulling into a different (not busy store) parking lot and unhooked the truck.

We quickly loaded our groceries from our Costco run and headed down the road. We got to Drumheller very fast, but Google Maps was taking us down some really small roads, lol. The town was giving me Glen Rose, TX vibes with the dinosaurs throughout town.

One of our goals was to visit a fossil shop because Sean really wanted a trilobite fossil. The fossil shop was really neat!

There is an old mine Suspension Bridge that visitors can walk across. It moves A LOT, lol!

We were staying at the Drumheller KOA and they were in the Dinosaur decorating spirit was well. They are located on Red Deer River shore which was such a pretty view in the sunset. Although not as thick here, you can really see the smokey air in the bottom 2 photos.

While at the Fossil Shop, Sean bought a geode that he broke open. Unfortunately, it broke into many pieces and unexpectedly sparked when Sean struck it (which is why I gasped in the first video), but the pieces were so pretty and glittered in the dusk lighting.

The next morning, we went to the Royal Tyrell Museum and we weren't disappointed! It's even acknowledged by the King, lol!

We had a great time at this museum and stayed about 3 hours! It was very educational and probably the best dinosaur related museum we have been to. Highly recommend!

After the museum fun, Sean decided to do some maintenance to the steering stabilizer he installed previous to this trip, before we head out to get as far down the road as possible in the rest of the day that we have.

This area of Alberta gives American Badlands vibes. The bottom picture shows how tiny the road is that we were on... Lucky for us, we didn't pass many other vehicles, lol.

The road was so small there weren't any rest areas to stop at, so we squeezed into a "Point of Interest" pullout in middle of nowhere Saskatchewan for the night. There was a bit of wind from a front blowing through and it stayed cool in the evening and throughout the night. The last photo is taken at night with just the moonlight lighting the ground.
