Moab & Jeepin'

Sean and I were super excited to arrive in Moab! We both love to go off-road, and I think the Jeep Wrangler we own has more off-road miles than highway miles, haha! (Even after this trip...) We had a little trouble finding an RV park to stay in due to the popularity of the Moab area. This is ATV, UTV, Dirt-bike/Off-road bike, Rock Crawler, Modified and Stock Jeep Central. Needless to say, there is a lot to keep you busy here.

We found a site at Canyonlands Campground, but the site length was 40'. This presented a few challenges because our motorhome is 43' long and we have a tow vehicle to find a parking spot for. So, we did what anyone would do in this situation...we crammed everything in the best we could, haha!

Although the motorhome was hanging out of its site about 1.5' on the front and back, we felt it was safe enough to head over to the Visitor's Information Center to buy a "trails" guide. We picked one that appealed to our needs and what we were most interested in and then headed back to the campground to figure out which trail we would go on the next day. Keep in mind that this was the day before Oct. 1st and therefore, the day before the government would most likely be shutting down.

We were unsure if many of the trails we wanted to go on would be open because some were in Canyonlands NP and Arches NP. In fact, the next day we passed by Arches NP just out of curiosity, and we found that it was barricaded with a Sheriff parked in front. We find it ridiculous that we can't visit because we pay for the NP through our taxes, and find it offending that the government thinks they have the "right" to keep us from viewing God's glorious work. (End of rant...for now, haha!)

We focused on the State Parks and Recreational Areas, including the BLM trails. Luckily, there was definitely enough to keep us busy for the 6 days that we were staying in Moab.
