WooHoo!

We were finally able to leave Friday night from the Repair Shop! Woohoo! A huge thanks to Tony (left) and George (right) from Certified Auto Services in Whitehorse, Yukon! You guys are amazing! If anyone is having car or RV engine problems near the Whitehorse area, this shop is definitely the place to go.

Before we left, I figured since we were waiting for the mechanics to hunt down a few parts, we would go ahead and put some screening on the bottom of the motorhome. This is something we came up with to help significantly lessen the risk of another rock strike to the radiator, or anywhere else vital. It took about +/- 60 zipties to attach the multiple screen panels to the frame and hitch, so I don't think the screen will be going anywhere anytime soon, haha! Sean and I were surprised at how easily we were able to put it up, and if it saves us another radiator and 2 more weeks waiting down the road, then it will certainly be worth the effort.

Here are some pictures of the busted radiator and the empty compartment where the radiator sits. As you can see on the old radiator, it got just a few hundred rock hits...we were able to sit and pick rocks out of the radiator that got lodged between the coils.

"Well, there's your problem..."

The new radiator was installed on Thursday. Unfortunately, a tube was bent in the process of putting the radiator back in and of course this happens after the parts store closes, haha, so we had to wait until Friday to get everything completely finished. Oh well, what's 1 more day in the grand scheme of things?

We pulled out of the shop bay to take the motorhome for a test drive near 9pm Friday and the motorhome did great! No overheating and no leaks. Once everything was squared away, we headed straight over to a fuel station and dumped all the tanks (which were all completely full) and filled up with diesel and water. Then, it was off to the Walmart parking lot where we put all the slides out and gave the motorhome a good cleaning on the inside. Over the last couple of weeks we were somewhat limited in how we could clean because we weren't able to put all the slides out. We hadn't realized that it was 1am when we got done with everything! So, we took a quick walk around the Walmart "campground" (campground-meaning there were nearly 30 RVs parking/camping in the parking lot) and headed to bed.

We had an appointment at a local tire shop to replace the outer passenger drive axle tire. There was a nice sized gouge in the sidewall of the tire, which we were thinking was probably from a large pothole...

Once we were done at the tire shop, we headed out on the Klondike Highway and we were bound for Dawson!!! Finally, back on the road :)
