Once back on the road, we knew there would be some construction since we had been on the Glenn Highway before (when we did the marathon trip to Anchorage for our new radiator). So, we were prepared to go slow through a few loose gravel areas. What we weren't prepared for was miles of loose gravel and a useless pilot car to take us through. It was useless because they left us behind, and here comes the next pilot car coming our way, haha! Anyway, we finally got through that area and were very happy to see this sign...
We thought the bumpy roads were behind us, but then we see frost heaves...
Luckily, it didn't last for too long, but while we were going slow Molly became my photo subject.
The views of the Richardson Highway down to Valdez are amazing! Glaciers on one side, waterfalls on the other, and beautiful foggy mountainous terrain.

Once settling at our campsite in Eagle's Rest RV Park, we ate a yummy dinner and disembarked to check out the fish hatchery to see if we could find some bears. We didn't find any bears, but goodness we found salmon...everywhere...
By the way, when you see the sign below, it makes you rethink where you have parked and how you can get away the fastest possible!
There were TONS of fish, dead and alive, everywhere.
The seagulls seems to like this area for some reason. I'm guessing because of the endless supply of food, supplied by the abundance of fish.
On the way back to town, we did a quick drive into Old Valdez, where we happened upon something peculiar...mind is blown!
We were headed back to the motorhome when I saw something in my peripheral vision. A black bear in a creek, Crooked Creek. There is a platform here where you can watch the bear happenings as they unfold and to view the salmon making their way up the creek. We never thought we would ever see something like this on the side of the road!
I think we are falling in love with Valdez!
Great video - looks like he was having more fun catching the fish than eating them.
