Good Times

Sean decided the motorhome needed to have a bath today, and luckily the RV Park we are in allows RV washing at your site. So, he got filthy washing the outside while I stayed dry and cleaned the inside, haha! He ended up soaking his shoes and he didn't have a spare pair of dry shoes. We ended up go to a local outfitter to find him some dry shoes. He found a decently priced pair (and honestly it wouldn't have mattered how much they were because the currently soaked pair of shoes were a Walmart $10 special), and I think I heard his feet sigh when he got them on.

Once properly shoed, we made our way to the small boat harbor and walked around the shops and restuarants. That's where we ran across this husky pup waiting patiently for his owner. He posed very pretty for me.

By the way, have you ever seen a double-wide, double-stacked trailer?

Now you have...

We headed over to the Crooked Creek area where we had seen the black bear eating/playing with salmon because we had noticed a beautiful waterfall. Guess who we saw back at catching salmon...we were surprised to see him back in the same spot, but I guess he/she knows where the food is. Why make life hard?

After lunch, we went back to Old Valdez to take a look around while it was high tide. It was interesting to see how high the tide comes through the old townsite. Now we could kind of see how there were salmon stuck in a puddle. A couple of drenched eagles were keeping watch for an easy meal nearby.

We headed over to the fish hatchery area just to see if we could spy some more bears. This is where we encountered a black bear family, momma and 3 cubs. It was cuteness overload to watch these guys learning from their momma.

Once they were tired of entertaining the tourists, we headed down the road (Dayville) to see if we could visit the Oil Pipeline Terminal trying to see them loading some of the oil tankers, but unfortunately we couldn't go beyond the barrels. So, that was off limits unless you can see it from the bay.

We headed back to the motorhome to eat supper with our friends Brian and Patty from Whitehorse, Yukon (who we met on the Juneau day cruise). They planned on going to the Alaska State Fair and decided to meet up with us in Valdez while we were here. It is always great to hang out with them! We dared them to try a Tabasco pepper if Sean would eat some Halibut. I don't think it was a very fair bet because it looked like they were very uncomfotable after munching on those peppers. But, they were able to get them down without too much trouble and now Sean just has to hold up his end of the bet.

Sean got Brian up in the "captain's seat" in the motorhome. A good look for him!

Brian and Patty have 2 golden retrievers, Barlee and Hunter, who were very excited to meet Molly! They will have lots of fun together I'm sure.
