Surprise Trail

We loaded up the next morning July 15th, and we were headed up the highway toward Summit Lake knowing that we probably wouldn't be able to make it all the way to Liard Hot Springs Provincial Park in 1 day. The drive had beautiful views and a few construction areas, but overall very pleasant.

We stayed the night near a large turnaround/pull-off area thinking it would be fine to stay the night at for 1 night. We went exploring around the area because we saw a stream running next to where we were parked, and behold a 4x4 trail!

Of course, Sean wanted to drive on it, so we unconnected the Jeep from the motorhome and off we went through lots of water crossings through a makeshift camp and to more water.

Before we could fall asleep, we heard some big rigs honking their horns, so Sean and I ran to the front of the motorhome to see what was happening and found they were honking at some Elk that were grazing next to the road. I took a few pictures, but I wasn't able to focus on the Elk very well due to their not being much light and no access to my tripod.
