Alaska Highway, Mile "0"

Ever since we arrived in Canada, we have been amazed at how much more light there is in 24 hours. I guess the saying "Land of the Midnight Sun" would certainly apply is this area. There is actually a fair amount of daylight until nearly midnight.

July 14th, we headed out to Dawson Creek, BC, which is the town where the Alaska Highway was started, Mile "0" can be seen here right off of a round-about. An interesting fact about Mile "0" is that there is 2 different markers in two different spots. This happened due to road improvements to the highway after it was hastily completed during the start of World War 2.

We stayed the night up the road a bit at a place called Kiskatinaw Provincial Park, which is located just before the Kiskatinaw Curved Wood Bridge built on the "Old Alaska Highway." The park was a tight squeeze for the motorhome, but we made it fit with room to spare.

Right below the park is a river that the bridge is built over, where Molly had lots of fun frolicking around in the water.
